Note: This was published as a plate in Volume VIII of Verve in 1956. The work contained 30 Original Lithographs. The work illustrated “The Bible” and consisted of scenes from the Old testament. The artist was a religious Jew who looked not for the precise meaning of the texts but read the works himself for their human and poetic sense. No doubt Chagall only depicted what stirred and inspired him. The series is at once colourful, dramatic and inspirational in its concept and figurative content.

Your Charity auction looks to be a great cause and I wish you every success with it. I have selected a couple of unsigned pieces a Miro and a Chagall - I would love to donate to this fantastic cause for the great work that the NHS staff and volunteers alike are doing during this very testing time.
